The French Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety (ANSES) announced a unique Data Scientist opportunity as part of the Horizon Europe project WildPosh.
The selected candidate will be responsible for three key activities: (1) Pesticide use and exposure data, which involves identifying existing databases to be requested, proposing and implementing an effective data collection and storage strategy (with automatic updates being a plus), and delivering a dataset for the four field study countries by the end of 2026; (2) Conducting a literature review on ecotoxicological data concerning pollinators, including identifying relevant articles, proposing and implementing a strategy for large-scale text mining and data storage, and compiling data from both the pesticide and literature review activities into a complete dataset by the end of 2027; and (3) Publishing results, which entails identifying a coherent set of findings, writing a full-length publication in English, and submitting it to a scientific journal, depending on the project’s progress.

Profile:
- Education and experience:
- Having a Master degree in data science is highly recommended Required: A level plus, 3 level minimum.
- Data scientist with a strong interest in biology and/or ecotoxicology
- Significant experience in collection, management and mining of big data is highly required.
- Experience in the meta-analysis is an asset
- Significant experience in managing multi-partner projects is appreciated
- Previous experience in writing and publishing A-grade scientific articles would be a plus.
- Skills
- Proficiency in R or Python, as well as in the dplyr and numpy/pandas libraries, is essential. Knowledge of SQL would be an asset.
- General knowledge of biology and/or ecotoxicology and an open mind towards these disciplines is appreciated.
- Basic skills for scientific work required: rigor, efficiency, autonomy.
- Fluent in scientific English (written and spoken).
