BioPark Archamps (BIOP) is a scientific service platform specialising in mass spectrometry analysis of biological macromolecules (proteins, peptides, lipids, etc.), founded in partnership with the University of Grenoble-Alpes. It has been providing the scientific benchmarks needed to protect us from health risks related to food, the environment and the workplace, or from risks affecting the health of animals and plants. An agency of scientific expertise, it monitors and assesses these health risks, and devotes research activities to them. It helps advance scientific knowledge to support public decision-makers, including during health crises.

Martin-Luther-University Halle-Wittenberg (MLU) offers a wide range of academic subjects in the areas of humanities, social sciences, natural sciences and medicine. The oldest and largest university in Saxony-Anhalt was created in 1817 when the University of Wittenberg (founded in 1502) merged with Friedrichs University Halle (founded in 1694). The Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ), Germany, was established in 1991 and is one of the world’s leading research centres in the field of environmental research, enjoying high social recognition. It demonstrates ways in which sustainable use of natural resources is possible for the benefit of both mankind and the environment. The UFZ currently employs around 1100 people across 38 departments focussing on the following research areas in a highly integrative manner: (i) Environment and Society, (ii) Ecosystems of the Future, (iii) Water Resources and Environment, (iv) Chemicals in the Environment, (v) Environmental Engineering and Biotechnology, (vi) Smart Models and Monitoring.

The University of Turin is one of the most ancient and prestigious Italian Universities. At the Italian National Institute of Health (ISS), the main centre for research, control and technical-scientific advice on public health in Italy, 1800 people, including researchers, technicians and administrative staff, work daily with the aim of protecting the citizens' health. Alongside the Ministry of Health, the Regions and the entire National Health Service (NHS), our structures guide health policies on the basis of scientific evidence. From prevention and health promotion to the fight against cancer and chronic and neurodegenerative diseases, from autism to rare diseases, from infectious diseases to pathological addictions, we deal with health at three hundred and sixty degrees.
The Environment and Health Department, involved in this project, conducts research and experimentation for the identification, characterization and analysis of the effects of environmental and social risk factors using a multidisciplinary approach that includes environmental monitoring studies, biomonitoring of human populations, effects on ecosystems, analysis of mechanisms and epidemiological investigations.

The National Veterinary Research Institute (PIWET) is the main centre of veterinary medicine and one of the biggest laboratory in Poland whose main mission is scientific research in food safety and zoonotic disease diagnosis and control. The organisational structure of the Institute consists of 20 scientific departments and laboratories engaged in research concerning aetiology, diagnosis, and prevention of infectious and parasitic diseases, including zoonoses, as well as the detection of pathogens and chemical contaminants in food and feed-stuffs, which is led by the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology. The Institute acts as the National Reference Laboratory (NRL) for over 130 areas of study, with the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology in charge of the determination of pesticide residues and other chemical contaminants in food of animal origin and biological matrices. Pesticide Residue Analysis Team serves as the NRL for pesticide residues in food of animal origin and honey, implementing and supervising nationwide monitoring in this area. Since 2014, the Team has also been assessing the exposure of bees in Polish apiaries to pesticides and acting as a nationwide diagnostic centre for bee poisoning incidents. The team has deep experience in developing miniaturised analytical methods using gas and liquid chromatography coupled to tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS, GC-MS/MS) dedicated to sensitive and reliable assessment of exposure and risk of pesticide residues on bees.

The University of Novi Sad Faculty of Sciences (UNSPMF) is one of the leading higher education institutions in Serbia and the country’s strong base of teaching and research in fundamental sciences, mathematics and computer science. The significant part of research activity at the Department of Biology and Ecology focus on taxonomic analyses of autochthonous fauna and flora, monitoring of biodiversity (including the genetic diversity), causes, trends, extent of changes in ecosystems, conservation actions that mitigate and prevent processes of alteration. The Department has well-equipped facilities for insects identification: insect reference collections, facility for DNA extraction, amplification (PCR) and analyses, microscopy facility, and other equipment for molecular and taxonomic analyses.

BioSense, Research and Development Institute for IT in biosystems, is a pioneer in digital transformation of agriculture in Serbia, founded in 2015. Exploring scientific and technological frontiers regarding the application of IT in agriculture, the Institute strives to deliver state-of-the-art digital solutions to the farming sector in Serbia and the world, in line with sustainable development principles. Biosystem research, sensing and information technology research are three main fields which BioSense integrates to make agriculture more efficient, by using science as a backbone for economic growth, but also preservation of natural resources.

The University of Murcia (UMU) is an international institution whose origins date back to the 13th century. UMU focuses on academic excellence and plays a very important role in research (346 research groups, 4 institutes and research centres), teaching and innovation in all areas of knowledge. In addition, it works closely with national and international companies. In 2020, UMU was awarded the ‘HR Excellence in Research’ (HRS4R) quality seal by the EC recognising universities and institutions that generate and support a stimulating and favourable environment for research work.
