11 Jul 2024

On 26 June 2024, the Working Group of Pollinators (WGP) held its 8th meeting, during which WildPosh was introduced to the attendees.

Dr. Sara Reverté Saiz (UMONS), WildPosh project coordinator, was invited to provide an overview of the project, its objectives and goals. The WGP was particularly impressed with Sara’s presentation and expressed their intention to follow the project and to help steer it in the direction that will maximise benefits to policy.

Work Package organisation

The WGP is a subgroup of the EU Biodiversity Platform and is chaired by DG Environment (Unit D.2 "Natural Capital and Ecosystem Health"). It brings together the European Commission, Member State representatives and various stakeholders, as well as the European Environment Agency. With up to 70 members, the WGP assists the Commission in the preparation of policy initiatives in the field of the conservation of pollinators, and in particular in the revision of the EU Pollinators Initiative and the implementation of the revised Initiative.

Representatives from PollinERA, Safeguard, BioAgora, RestPoll and TETTRIs also attended the meeting and gave an overview of their work towards reversing biodiversity and pollinator losses
