WildPosh and three other pollinator projects present at EFSA-KIC meeting
WildPosh partners presented their work at an online meeting hosted by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA). The event focused on advancing environmental risk assessment (ERA) to better protect pollinators and brought together around 140 participants, including policymakers and researchers.
The WildPosh presentation took a broad look at the challenges facing wild pollinators - from how they are exposed to pesticides and mixtures, to how they respond biologically, and what can realistically be done to reduce the risks. The project was represented by researchers from the University of Murcia, the Estonian University of Life Sciences, the University of Mons, the University of Gothenburg, the University of Cambridge and the University of Turin.
The meeting included insights from three other EU projects devoted to strengthening pollinator protection. PollinERA works to understand pesticide-pollinator interactions to support EU ERA and policy. ProPollSoil focuses on protecting and restoring soils and their associated soil-dependent pollinators. PollinEat investigates feeding behaviour in bees to better understand how pesticides enter their bodies through food.
About EFSA: EFSA is an agency of the European Union created in 2002 with the goal of providing independent scientific advice on risks associated with the food chain, cooperating with interested parties to promote coherent scientific advice and protect European consumers from food-related risks.
